ABOUT THIS EPISODE:
In 2009, our founder Ken Davenport wrote a blog which stumped many of his readers. He proposed the concept that Producers should receive a portion of the Author's subsidiary rights on shows that have not recouped on Broadway since it was the Producer’s production that branded the show for subsidiary production in the first place.
And while he received a tremendous amount of positive responses from the industry (includes other Producers!!), he also received many questions from readers wanting to know exactly how Producers were compensated.
In this episode, we are sharing the 3 main sources of revenue for a Producer on a commercial musical or play.
